Alicedale is a railway junction town on the main railway line between Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. The town was a railway training facility for many years. It was named after Mrs. Alice Slessor (born Dale), the wife of the engineer in charge of construction of the railways. (GPS coordinates: 33.3187 S, 26.0777 E).
