Wellington was named by Governor Sir George Napier after the Duke of Wellington. It was originally known as Val du Charron (French) which means 'valley of the wagon-makers'. It is known for its agricultural produce such as grapes, wine, fruit and brandy. (GPS coordinates: 33.6452 S, 19.0048 E).
