Jagersfontein was established on the farm (of the same name) which was once the property of a Jacobus Jagers, hence the name Jagersfontein ('Jagers' spring'). One of the largest diamonds in the world, the Excelsior, was discovered here in 1893. (GPS coordinates: 29.7678 S, 25.4258 E).
