Jacobsdal is located on the banks of the Riet River and was established in 1859 on the farm Kalkfontein. It was named after the owner of the farm, Christoffel Johannes Jacobs. The town is known for the salt pans which are located nearby. (GPS coordinates: 29.1258 S, 24.8 E).
