Pampierstad is situated right next to the border between Northern Cape and North West. The town is believed to have been named after Lekwalo Pampiri, who was also known as Pampier, son of Chief Motlaadile. Another explanation that has been given for the name is that the name refers to cardboard material that was used to build shacks in the area. (GPS coordinates: 27.7835 S, 24.69 E).
