Frasersburg was named after two individuals: the Reverend Colin Fraser, father of President MT Steyn's wife, and Gerrit Jacobus Meyburgh, an elder. The town was laid out on the farm Rietfontein in 1851. (GPS coordinates: 31.8984 S, 21.5418 E).
