Pearly Beach is located on what was once the Kleinhagelkraal cattle farm. Since the early 1920s families spent their summer vacations camping and fishing on this section of coast. Dubbed Afsaal ('Unsaddle'), the area was characterised by open fynbos fields and an extensive beach. One of the later owners, Charlie van Breda, loved to take long hikes on this 'pearl of all beaches' and the name Pearly Beach was derived from this. (GPS coordinates: 34.6627 S, 19.4967 E).
